Oral hygiene can help you have a top-notch smile, but did you know there are little things you can do to further boost your oral health? Well, it’s true, and our dentist, Dr. Daniel Sahutske, is happy to tell you all about them!
First, keep a travel-sized toothbrush and toothpaste with you. Doing this can give you the option of brushing your teeth during your busy day. If you brush, you can clean your smile, prevent dental issues, and even avoid embarrassing moments, like having food stuck in your smile or having stinky breath. When you keep your toothbrush and toothpaste with you (like in your purse or backpack), it’s important to put a cover over the brush to keep the bristles clean.
Second, chew sugar-free gum. Doing this can help you produce saliva. Saliva frequently washes the harmful bacteria and other substances from your teeth and gums. It’s nothing like your oral hygiene routine, but it constantly protects your smile throughout the day. So, chew sugar-free gum after your meals and snacks and produce as much saliva as possible.
Third, drink water frequently. Doing this can also wash your mouth and rid harmful bacteria and other substances from your mouth. It can also help you avoid dry mouth, which is a dental issue that promotes cavity growth. So, make sure to carry a water bottle with you and sip on it throughout the day.
